Most studies are reported the same day. Urgent presentations are reported within 1–2 hours. Reports are sent to the referring consultant first.

Modern contrast agents are very safe. Allergic reactions are rare; we screen for risk factors and provide alternatives where needed.

CT scans take a few minutes. MRI scans take 20–60 minutes depending on the body part. Open or wide-bore scanners are available for claustrophobic patients.

Yes — imaging is requested by your treating consultant. Self-referred screening (e.g. mammography) is offered through our screening programmes.
